New Castle Presbytery has been offering training for Church Officers for many years. As New Castle Presbytery expands its vision to meet the needs of its congregations and strengthen its ministry and mission to the world, leadership training has come to the forefront. The VESSEL Institute provides leadership training classes for Church Officers, laity, clergy and those seeking to become Commissioned Lay Pastors.

The VESSEL Institute seeks to address several forms of leadership to provide a comprehensive curriculum for today’s church members. Courses in interpretive leadership create a learning community by encouraging members to decipher the scriptures, their history and their community toward a more comprehensive understanding of God’s purpose for their lives and the lives of their congregation.   The goal is to provide annual training events and year round courses.

Opportunities for relational leadership strengthen inter-congregational associations and encourage connectional congregational partnering toward a more full expression of the gospel in our larger community. Classes in implemental leadership provide practical solutions and skills for personal and congregational growth and development.

Individuals will have an opportunity to receive training to better serve the church of the future. Within the VESSEL all of God’s people will have the opportunity to grow in their skills and abilities.
